Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Hydroxide is Lye, which is widely used in food processing. It is commonly used for: wash fruits and vegetables, chocolate and cocoa processing, caramel color production, poultry scalding, soft drink processing, thickening ice cream. Foods processed with lye include olives, lutefisx, hominy/grits, corn nuts, 100 year eggs, pretzels, and German lye rolls.
In the benecos foundations, Sodium Hydroxide is neutralized in the end of manufacturing process.
